It's very difficult these days to find products that you can markup enough to yeild a healthy profit, especially when selling on eBay. Seems there are just so many bargains and so many deals on eBay it's impossible to compete. While this is true to some extent, you can also use this to your advantage.
I'm sure you guys all have friends or has heard somebody brag about what a great deal they got on eBay. Typically, the great deals are from individuals, not stores, selling a product they don't want anymore. For example, I just recently purchased an XBOX 360 from a kid who got a PS3 and didn't want it anymore. He sold it to me, with two controllers and 3 games for $50.00 USD + Shipping (think it was like $13 to ship or something). Now me personally, I am going to keep the console, but if you check the price on eBay right now, an XBOX 360 can go for over $100.00 USD.
Yes I got lucky to spot that deal, and I could resell it and get a nice profit, but would it really be worth it for me to sit on eBay and scope out all the best deals? Well maybe, but quite frankly my time, and your time, is too valuable for that.

Another thing you may want to blog about on the topic of making money on eBay - you can go to local live auctions and buy some items in bulk VERY cheaply, then resell them on eBay for a healthy profit. I went to a 'returned products' auction in California, and with about 700 lots, you could buy in-package and display items for around 20% of their retail price. It takes more effort, but the profit is undeniable.

That's true - they don't advertise well. I heard of the auction I attended through word of mouth, but I believe they regularly place an ad in the Penny Saver or Thrify Nickel the week before.
The auctions of this type I have heard of are in Visalia and Tulare, California, and my parents are starting a return auction business in Houston, Texas. I'm looking for one in Utah to check out, so I'll post if I find anything here.
